Borewell Rules, Regulations, Permission and guidelines in Odisha
Odisha Borewell Drilling guidelines
The rules and regulations for borewell drilling in Odisha may vary depending on the specific location and local governing bodies. However, here are some general rules and regulations that are commonly followed:
1. Obtaining Permission: Prior permission or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) is typically required from the relevant authorities before drilling a borewell. This may include the Municipal Corporation, Village Panchayat, or the Central Ground Water Board.
2. Registration: Tube wells or borewells need to be registered with the appropriate authority. The registration process involves submitting an application along with the required documents and paying the necessary fees.
3. Depth and Diameter Restrictions: There may be restrictions on the depth and diameter of borewells to prevent excessive groundwater extraction and maintain the groundwater table.
4. Location Restrictions: Borewells should be drilled at a safe distance from sources of contamination such as septic tanks, soak pits, and industrial areas to avoid water contamination.
5. Qualified Drillers: Borewell drilling should be carried out by qualified and licensed drillers who have the necessary expertise and equipment to ensure proper construction and operation of the borewell.
6. Environmental Considerations: Environmental guidelines should be followed during borewell drilling to minimize the impact on the environment. This may include proper disposal of drilling waste and adherence to environmental protection measures.
7. Monitoring and Maintenance: Regular monitoring and maintenance of borewells are essential to ensure their efficient functioning and to prevent any adverse effects on the groundwater system.
8. Water Extraction Restrictions: There may be restrictions on the volume of water that can be extracted from borewells to prevent overexploitation of groundwater resources.
